Build flows
Build a flow in the editor, from adding and linking nodes and using earlier data to branches, loops, failures, testing and publishing.
New to the editor? Start with The editor, then follow the pages in order.
Basics
The editor
The editor is where you build a flow, on a canvas of linked nodes, with its controls, its grid, notes and issue list, under a header for the flow's name, views and publishing.
Add nodes and link them
Add nodes from Add a step, link them with edges, put a node between two others, and change a node from its menu.
How data moves between nodes
Each node receives what the node before it gave back. See it in the node's dialog, put it in a field with an expression, and check the result.
Keyboard shortcuts
Every key the flow editor answers, on Mac and Windows, on the canvas, in Add a step, in a node's dialog and on a sticky note.
Logic
Send a run down different paths
Use a Condition to take one path when a check is true and another when it is false, or a Switch to take one path for each value you list.
Repeat nodes for each item in a list
Use a Loop to run the same nodes once for every item in a list, read the current item, end early with Break, and see each round in the run.
Recover from a failed step
Choose what happens when a node fails in a run: stop the flow, carry on with the error, try it again, or catch it with a Try/Catch node and go on.
Make a flow wait or ask for approval
Pause a flow with a Wait, a Wait for signal or an Ask for approval node, then let the run go on: by itself, with Resume now, or when someone decides.
Call another flow
Let one flow call another like a function: give the called flow its inputs, and call it from a Subflow node with your values.
Test and publish
Test a flow
Try a flow while you build it: set the data it starts with, test one node, pin or edit its output, and run the whole draft with Test run.
Publish to Test and Prod
Put your draft on Test as a new version, put a version you tried on Prod for real traffic, see what Prod runs, and roll back after a mistake.
Organize
Manage your flows
Find a flow on the Flows page, sort and narrow the list, pin, rename, duplicate or delete a flow, and set its tags, alerts and run history.
Import and export
Save a flow as a .flowmage.json file and bring it into this or another workspace as a new draft, with a check of what it needs there.
Start from a template
Start a flow from one of six ready-made templates: pick one, let Flowmage check what it needs in your workspace, and change it from there.
